Halloween is always a special holiday for us at QC Industries. We go all out with a costume contest, pumpkin carving contest and a special lunch. It’s always a fun day to get to see a different side of our coworkers than we normally get to see. I’m always amazed at some of the creative costume ideas people come up with. Congratulations to our costume contest winner, Rich May (one of our Customer Support Specialists) for his Captain Jack Sparrow costume.
We hope you and your family have a safe and happy Halloween!

Microsoft has released an update to their Live Search Maps product. For the first time our headquarters are included in the Bird’s Eye Imagery. You can see 360° views of our building and others in the area.
They obviously flew over our area on a very cold day. There’s a little snow left on our roof and the pond is partially frozen.
See if you can find your office in their new imagery and post a link in the comments. You can get a link by clicking the share button at the top of the maps and choosing “send in email.” We’d love to see where our readers are working.

We’ll be showing off our InnerDrive Conveyors, our Flextrac Plastic Chain Conveyors and our soon-to-be-released Conveyor Configurator online configuration and quoting software.

How can a trade show reach one of the largest 200 Trade shows in the US ranked by Tradeshow Week? Apparently it’s easy — get bought by Cannon Communications.
Canon Communications continues to launch successful shows and the Assembly Technology, National Manufacturing Week and Quality Expo 2007 show was just another example. When asked at the show I mentioned our success. If you won’t take my word for it, why else have 980 or 70% of 1400 exhibitors already signed up to exhibit at next years show? Yes the formula is in place and hopefully with a healthy economy these types of results continue. I must say that with us showing our new InnerDrive and Flextrac conveyors and our new Conveyor Configurator software we were very pleased by those results!

Next in our series of packaging applications in preparation for Pack Expo Vegas is this mini tabletop labeler from Re-Pack. QC Industries’ 125 Series Belt Conveyors are used to move the product through the labeling system. The small footprint of our conveyors make them ideal for applications like this, where overall footprint is of the utmost importance.

This shop towel bagger from Automated Packaging is one of our favorite packaging applications because it uses three different styles of our conveyors. The infeed to the operator is a 125 Series conveyor and the outfeed is an InnerDrive conveyor that feeds onto a 125Z Series L conveyor.
This was the winner of our Best Use of a Conveyor contest last year.
Automated Packaging has been a valued partner for many years. Be sure to visit them at Pack Expo Las Vegas in booth #C-1723.

Next up in our Pack Expo Vegas series is this top and bottom labeler from Re-Pack. It uses two 125 Series conveyors. A label is applied to the bottom of the container through a gap between the conveyors.

We begin our Pack Expo Vegas series of packaging related products with Orbital Stretch Wrapper machines from CannTec which are designed to package long narrow products such as long cardboard boxes, pipes, steel bars, furniture components, gutters, bumpers, shelving and so on. The machine has a PLC controlled automated horizontal spiral wrapping and banding system with cutting and cycle start features that provide continuous operation with easy to change stretch rolls. QC Industries conveyors provide a power infeed and exit from the system.

On October 13th 1200 exhibitors from the Packaging Industry will be exhibiting in Las Vegas, NV. We have so many customers in the packaging industry we thought it would be nice to show some of the different uses of conveyors in the industry. Over the next two weeks we will blog about some related products that use conveyors, ones that you will certainly see in Sin City if you get a chance to attend.

The Goering Center for Family & Private Business recently named QC Industries a finalist in the Innovation Category at this year’s Family Business of the Year award ceremony. This award recognizes the significant impact that family businesses have in our community and the world at large. The Goering Center says that family businesses are responsible for generating more than half our country’s GDP and a much higher percentage of actual employment of the domestic work force. Family businesses are truly the backbone of our economy.
This is QC Industries’ second recognition for innovation this year. In January we were honored for Innovative Business Practices by the Cincinnati/Clermont Chamber of Commerce.
