Nosebar Tail Now Available for QC Industries’ Automation Series Conveyors

Cincinnati, OH (AUGUST 10, 2009) — QC Industries’ new Automation Series low profile belt conveyors are now available with a nosebar tail. It improves transfers of small parts between two conveyors or other integrated machinery.

The nosebar tail offers a slim 11mm outer belt diameter, that, when placed end to end, reduces the gap between conveyors. With a smaller gap, it is easier for small parts to pass across the gap without becoming trapped.

This new option builds on QC Industries’ Tension Release Tail by directly replacing the tail idler pulley. This maintains the push-button ease-of-use of the Tension Release Tail, which flips up and relieves tension for belt changes or under-belt cleaning.

In most cases a nosebar tail can be added to an existing conveyor without even removing the belt. It is fully compatible with QC Industries’ standard MAE white urethane belt, as well as a host of additional belts with special capabilities such as high friction or accumulation.

The nosebar tail is available for all standard Automation Series conveyor widths, which range from 2” to 24”. It is also compatible with both pushing and pulling applications. It is capable of speeds up to 125 feet per minute.

QC Industries’ Automation Series low profile belt conveyors are used in a wide variety of applications including packaging, automation, assembly, medical product and device manufacturing, material handling, manufacturing, and more.

Privately held QC Industries is a lean manufacturer and leading builder of low profile belt conveyors based in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Cincinnati, OH (APril 16, 2009) — QC Industries’ new Automation Series low profile belt conveyors offer Pivot rotatable drives that can be quickly and easily rotated to almost any position as application requirements change.

Pivot drives can be positioned to avoid product on the conveyor belt or obstructions caused by integrated machines. When necessary, the drive can be rotated to a new position simply by loosening two set screws, rotating the drive and retightening the screws. A knurled collar locks the drive into the desired position.

When the Pivot drive is rotated below the conveyor, the belt is the highest point on the conveyor, allowing overhanging product to pass easily across the entire length of the conveyor.

A timing belt inside the guard transfers torque from the motor to the conveyor’s drive pulley. The Pivot drive package is compatible with any standard QC Industries AC or DC gearmotor, including compact and quiet brushless DC motors. They are capable of belt speeds up to 400 feet per minute.

Pivot drives are available on any AS40 End Drive conveyor and are compatible with all standard QC Industries side rails and guides and with both flat and v-guided belts.

Tension Release Tail Offers Fast, Easy Belt Changes

Cincinnati, OH (March 9, 2009) –QC Industries new Automation Series low profile belt conveyors feature a first of its kind Tension Release Tail that makes belt changes and under-belt cleaning fast and easy.

QC Industries’ Tension Release Tail operates at the push of a button to relieve tension on the belt, quickly flipping up and out of the way. No tools are required, making it easy for an operator to release the tension for cleaning under the belt. The tail reseats, reapplying tension, with a gentle push.

Belt changes are simplified; in many cases the belt can be removed and replaced without tools. This feature reduces downtime and maintenance expenditures.

Unlike competing conveyors, the unique design of the Tension Release Tail retains all tension and tracking adjustments when tension is relieved and reapplied. To relieve tension in competing conveyors, the same adjustments used for tension and tracking must be undone, requiring them to be readjusted each time tension is reapplied. QC Industries’ Tension Release tail uses a completely separate mechanism for relieving the tension than it uses for making tension and tracking adjustments.

The Tension Release Tail is standard on all Automation Series conveyors, including AS40 End Drive and AS65 Center Drive conveyors. It is compatible with all standard QC Industries side rails and guides and with both flat and v-guided belts.

QC Industries’ low profile belt conveyors are used in a wide variety of applications including packaging, automation, assembly, medical product and device manufacturing, material handling, manufacturing, and more.

Privately held QC Industries is based in a state-of-the-art 55,000 square foot facility located in Cincinnati, Ohio and is proud to be a lean manufacturer that has been a leading manufacturer of low profile belt conveyors since 1981.
Lube-for-Life Bearings Make Conveyors Maintenance-Free

Cincinnati, OH – QC Industries has replaced their standard bearings with Lube-for-Life Bearings featuring a permanently applied Micro-Poly Lubricant specially designed to meet the unique needs of their conveyors. With this change, QC Industries’ conveyors are now maintenance-free.

This new greaseless design eliminates the need to periodically lubricate the bearings and the possibility of grease escaping the bearings and contacting product on the surface of the conveyor. In addition, the bearings are sealed to prevent contamination from debris, significantly extending their life. These features result in long-term cost savings through reduced conveyor maintenance.

The Micro-Poly Lubricant is comprised of polymers and oils. The oils retained by this porous structure continually lubricate the bearing surfaces — even those in hard-to-reach places — through capillary action. The precision roller bearings provide an increased surface area which offers greater load capacities and longer bearing life.

All QC Industries’ Lube-for-Life Bearings are approved by the USDA and FDA for H-1 food processing applications, where there may be incidental contact between food and the bearing. They contain corrosion inhibitors, anti-oxidants and an EP (extreme pressure) additive.

Lube-for-Life Bearings are now standard on QC Industries’ 125 Series Belt Conveyors, 125Z Series Angled Frame Conveyors, 250 Series Center/End Drive Conveyors, InnerDrive Conveyors and Flextrac Plastic Chain Conveyors. They are also available in a retrofit kit for existing conveyors.

QC Industries conveyors can be adapted to virtually any application, including packaging, automation, medical product and device manufacturing, assembly, material handling, manufacturing, clean rooms, and more.

QC Industries Extends Warranty to 5 Years

Cincinnati, OH – QC Industries recently extended the warranty on all new conveyors to five years, making it the best warranty in the low profile conveyor industry. This is another step in QC Industries’ initiative to reduce customer maintenance costs.

"The five year warranty is our way of demonstrating QC Industries' commitment to quality over the long term. In our eyes, the length of the warranty is directly related to the quality of the conveyor," said Dave Endres, QC Industries' general manager.

QC Industries conveyors are built to withstand the rigors of heavy use in a wide variety of industries. They are built of components created to exacting specifications on state-of-the-art machinery. Belts are pre-tensioned at the factory using a unique eccentric system that ensures proper belt tensioning — even after belt changes. The steel straight-knurl drive pulley is designed to prevent belt wear. QC Industries’ lean manufacturing procedures require a rigorous quality inspection process prior to shipping.

The full warranty details are available at http://www.qcindustries.com/warranty.

In addition to the five year warranty, QC Industries has also worked to reduce customer maintenance costs by moving to Lube-for-Life bearings. The Lube-for-Life bearings make QC Industries’ conveyors virtually maintenance free.

QC Industries conveyors can be adapted to virtually any application, including packaging, automation, medical product and device manufacturing, assembly, material handling, manufacturing, clean rooms, and more.

Cincinnati, OH – The Cincinnati Clermont Chamber of Commerce has honored QC Industries with its Innovative Business Practices Award. This award is given to only one company in the region for “demonstrating unique and innovative practices, products, or procedures.”

“We are pleased that the Chamber of Commerce has recognized the outstanding efforts our employees have put forth over the last few years as we’ve worked hard to surpass our competition,” said David Dornbach, president of QC Industries. “This award recognizes the company’s commitment to innovation in the low profile conveyor industry.”

The award committee selected QC Industries based on the company’s recent performance and new product developments. QC Industries concluded 2006 with record breaking sales and several new products scheduled to come to market in 2007.

One such product is the company’s unique new InnerDrive belt conveyor, which features a safe and efficient motor that has been placed inside the conveyor’s drive pulley to save space. This unique design frees users from lubricating bearings and gearboxes.

Their soon-to-be-released Flextrac plastic chain conveyors will allow longer runs, higher speeds and heavier loads than the competition, while retaining the versatility and ease-of-use of QC Industries’ popular 125 Series belt conveyors. The company has also introduced new Lube-for-Life Bearings, which are coated with a solid Micro-Poly lubricant, making the conveyors maintenance-free and eliminating the risk of grease escaping from the bearing and contacting product on the conveyor. These new Lube-for-Life Bearings became the standard bearing on all QC Industries low profile conveyors effective January 1, 2007.

QC Industries now has 3D CAD models available on their website. More than 12,000 models can be downloaded and easily inserted into customer applications. The models include conveyor assemblies along with stands, mounts, drive packages and accessories.

QC Industries’ new website — www.qcindustries.com — was released in July. It has been completely redesigned and now features a blog, allowing the company and customers to quickly and easily communicate with each other. QC Industries is one of the first companies in its field to embrace this new technology.

The company has also designed a proprietary software package called the Conveyor Configurator for help in sizing and pricing conveyor applications. This new product is currently in the testing phases and will ultimately allow customers to configure conveyor systems and accessories in an easy-to-use interface that guides users to the most appropriate selections for their application.

An industry leading manufacturer of low profile conveyors, QC Industries’ products are used in a wide array of industries ranging from assembly and packaging automation to industrial manufacturing , material handling applications and more.

Privately held QC Industries is based in a state-of-the-art 55,000 square foot facility located in Cincinnati, Ohio and is proud to be a lean manufacturer that has been supplying low profile conveyors since 1981.
New QC Industries Web Site Features Intuitive Navigation and a Blog for Customer Communications

Cincinnati, OH – QC Industries unveiled their new website which includes detailed information on all of their low-profile conveyors and accessories (including manuals and replacement parts) in an easier-to-navigate format. A key new element of the site, which is accessible at www.qcindustries.com, is a blog which allows customers a convenient way to communicate their questions and comments.

“We’ve been asking customers and distributors how we can better serve them online” says Marketing Manager Chris Round. “This new site is the culmination of that communication and feedback. We’re thrilled with the design of the new site because it conveys the information desired in an easy to use format. We’re really excited about the blog – an industry first – because it gives our customers another means to communicate directly with us.”

The site also includes the recently unveiled online 3D CAD tool to simplify the specifying of their low profile belt conveyors. Users can easily search for conveyors and accessories, and then see 360° views of the models to ensure accuracy prior to downloading files into their own design software. Models from the 125 Series and 250 Series product lines, as well as a full range of accessories, drives, stands, mounts, and guides are available at http://www.qcindustries.com/cad/. Shopping cart ease-of-use is combined with the robust functionality of STP and DXF file formats, which can be downloaded into virtually any design program (including Solid Edge, SolidWorks, Pro/E, Ideas, and Inventor). This new functionality links to the 3D-Seek Part Bin by Imaginestics, LLC which allows users to search for upstream and downstream components available from other manufactures.

An extremely low profile (1.89”), allows unique QC Industries conveyors to be used in tight quarters where conventional conveyors will not fit. A unique snap-in sealed tail assembly allows belts to be changed in less than 5 minutes (regardless of belt length or width) using standard hand tools. Permanent belt tensioning ensures a long service life for belts and bearings while moving the heaviest loads in low-profile conveyors, with no tension adjustment necessary. These unique features make QC Industries conveyors ideal for use in manufacturing plants as well as distribution centers, packaging lines, metal stamping and precision manufacturing environments, and more.

Conveyor frames are laser cut from 10-gauge steel which is then powder coated. Lubrication of bearings is achieved with zero downtime. Application specific belting is available in over 50 styles. Corrosion resistant and magnetic conveyors are also available.

A wide variety of accessories, including sides, guides, mounts, stands, drive packages and controls allow these robust conveyors to be adapted to virtually any application. Automation accessories available include transfer plates, diverters, adjustable stops, and turning wheels. Motion detection is also available.

QC Industries’ 125Z Series Conveyors for Elevation Changes in Tight Quarters

Cincinnati, OH – The 125Z Series line of conveyors from QC Industries provides tight product transfer and the ability to fit within space constrained areas. Fixed angles ranging from 30° to 90° minimize the number of required components (and their costs), while providing the highest load carrying capacity in the industry. When coupled with their low profile (1.89”), these features make 125Z Series low-profile conveyors ideal for use wherever product needs to be moved and raised (or lowered), including manufacturing plants, automation cells, packaging lines, metal stamping and precision manufacturing environments, and more.

The unique Z-Track™ allows users to gain control over belt tracking at the angles of incline or decline. This component adjusts rapidly for belt installation and tracking adjustments then locks in the tracking setting to ensure long belt life. Belt widths of 8” to 24” are available, in lengths up to 20 feet, with load carrying capacity of up to 125 pounds, and speeds to 225 fpm. A unique snap-in sealed tail assembly allows belts to be changed in less than 5 minutes (regardless of belt length or width) using standard hand tools and without re-tracking the belt. Permanent belt tensioning ensures a long service life for belts and bearings while moving the heaviest loads in low-profile conveyors. Lubrication of drive elements is achieved with zero downtime.

Five standard configurations are available to meet any need. The “Z” configuration moves product horizontally to an incline (or decline) and back to horizontal again. The “L” configuration moves horizontally to an incline and the “R” moves horizontally to a decline. Unique to QC Industries, the “N” configuration moves product on an incline, then horizontally to a decline. The “U” is a decline to horizontal to incline conveyor. Each is available with a variety of angles, section lengths and widths, making this the most versatile angled frame conveyor available.

Conveyor frames are laser cut from 10-gauge steel which is then powder coated. High tensile strength cleated belts, with superior strength-to-weight ratio, are available in multiple cleat styles and sizes to suit any application. Cleats are high-frequency welded onto the belt surface at customer-specified spacing for optimum performance. Corrugated sidewalls can be added to the belt for maximum part containment. Corrosion resistant and magnetic conveyors are also available.

A wide variety of accessories, including sides, guides, mounts, stands, drive packages and controls allow the 125Z Series conveyors to be adapted to virtually any application. Automation accessories available include transfer plates, diverters, nose bars, adjustable stops, turning wheels, and an adjustable hopper. For installations where it is necessary to show that conveyor belts are running, motion detection is available. An industry leading manufacturer of low-profile conveyors, QC Industries products are used in a wide array of industries, including packaging, stamping, medical product & device manufacturing, assembly, material handling, manufacturing, clean rooms, and more.

Cincinnati, OH – QC Industries is pleased to announce their new online 3D CAD tool to simplify the specifying of their low profile belt conveyors.

Unique snap-in sealed tail assembly allows belts to be changed in less than 5 minutes (regardless of belt length or width) using standard hand tools. Permanent belt tensioning ensures a long service life for belts and bearings while moving the heaviest loads in low-profile conveyors, with no tension adjustment necessary. These unique features make QC Industries conveyors ideal for use in manufacturing plants as well as a distribution centers, packaging lines, metal stamping and precision manufacturing environments, and more.

Automation accessories available include transfer plates, diverters, nose bars, adjustable stops, and turning wheels. Motion detection is also available.

Privately held QC Industries is based in a state-of-the-art 55,000 square foot facility in Cincinnati, Ohio which houses their lean manufacturing, engineering, customer service, sales, and administrative functions. They have been supplying low-profile conveyors since 1981, making this their 25th anniversary.
